Review
This is the third instalment in the “Terminator movies”. The first and second movie where full of explosive action and suspense. The action was accompanied by a clever story and it was this combination that helped make them so popular. Now that the story has been set up and outlined for the future it is easy for the sequels to follow and this latest movie takes the story a little further. However, it concentrates more on the action scenes, and the story and the development of characters is somewhat neglected. In the first and second movies you really felt the suspense and even an affinity with the characters as they battled for mankind on our behalf!
Terminator 3 certainly has the exciting action scenes. Some of the sequences might be a little long which gives the movie the feel of being one very long action-filled chase sequence. Perhaps the movie should have taken a little time out from the action to develop the characters and story. As in the first movies there is some corny but excellent, funny “one-liners”. Big Arnie Schwarzeneggar gets to deliver most of them in an expressionless, emotionless voice. Well you can’t expect emotion in a robot/machine sent back from the future!
For me, Arnold Schwarzeneggar is the “Terminator movies”. No offence to his acting ability but his size, deadpan expression and that deep emotionless voice make him the perfect Terminator!
This time around we also have a Terminatrix (a female robot/machine) played by Kristanna Loken.
Claire Danes plays a big part when her character, a school friend of John Connor’s (Nick Stahl), unwillingly, gets caught up in the action.
The Bottom Line: If you enjoyed the first two movies you will enjoy this instalment, which brings the story forward, but if you are not a fan of the movies, you might see it as mediocre sci-fi action movie.
Last thought: “They’ll be back!”
